Sun worshippers as well as families and water sports fans will truly enjoy the Sotogrande Beaches. Unlike many beaches along the Costa del Sol, the beaches in this wonderful resort are quiet and sheltered. There are more than 20 km of coastline in Sotogrande with numerous beaches to choose from. From many of them you will be able to see Gibraltar and on clear days even the coast of Africa. Two outstanding beach clubs are available in Sotogrande.
El Octogono Beach Club Since 1980 the El Octogono beach club is available for residents as well as tourists to sunbathe and go for a splash and a swim. The beach can be found near the Guadiaro river and the marina. As there is not only a beach available but also a club, many people spend the entire day there. Light snacks, proper meals, seafood and drinks are offered by the onsite restaurant. A pool can also be found in the club and is an alternative to the sea.
At the El Octogeno Beach Club you will find facilities for those who like to enjoy a quiet and relaxing day but also for families with children. At the adult-only area you can lounge in the sunshine by the pool and at the children’s area you will find a separate pool with a spacious lawn for kids to play on. During the summer months there are also supervised activities for youngsters which allows parents to get some rest.
Those who are into water sports will find the El Octogono Beach Club a great place. Whether you want to go jet skiing, sailing, water skiing or for a ride on a catamaran – the club has all this on offer and much more. Alternatively you can also drive to the nearby river of Guadiaro where you will have the opportunity of kayaking.
Another sports facility that is provided here is the tennis club where 5 paddle courts and 6 tennis courts can be found. Lessons on how to play for individuals as well as groups and tournaments are offered.When purchasing property in Sotogrande you will not only get the membership of the beach club but also reduced prices on the facilities that are on offer there. During the entire year (except of July) you can choose to pay a daily-, weekly- or monthly- membership. In July memberships have to be at least one week long.
El Cucurucho Beach Club The El Cucurucho Beach Club is enjoying a privileged location between the Mediterranean Sea and the Real Club de Golf. It is a great place for everyone who likes to rest and relax with numerous facilities on offer. Situated within the resort of Sotogrande, the beach club is somehow a small resort of its own. Landscaped gardens, wonderful pools, deckchairs and the beach right in front of you make it to a truly amazing spot.
Also part of the club is the excellent restaurant which is offering international and regional cuisine in form of a buffet (during July and August). For a small snack in between or a refreshing drink one can visit the chiringuito. Children will be happy to hear that there is also an ice bar.
Within the club are four pools available. One is for adults, one for the whole family, one splash pool and one pool for older kids which make the El Cucurucho Beach club ideal for families. During the colder months one can take advantage of the sauna. A lifeguard, massage services, showers and changing rooms complete the offering.
An activity programme keeps youngsters entertained and parents happy. The programme includes: water games, balloon games, water polo, football, treasure hunts, face painting, pottery, volleyball, juggling and much more. Alternatively there is also the Iguana Park which is a supervised play area. Here your kids will also be entertained with games and activities. The Iguana Park can also be booked for parties.
While kids are being entertained, adults can take advantage of the racquet centre in which several tennis courts, paddle courts and fronton courts are available. Also provided are lessons for groups and individuals. Occasionally tournaments take place and can be joined.
