The resort town of Sotogreande was created in the 1960’s and today covers an area of over 20.000 hectares. It is a wonderful place to make holiday or to purchase a second home abroad. Polo Sotogrande The Sotogrande Polo Club is well known throughout Europe. Reason for that are not only the outstanding facilities that are provided but also the fact that you will be able to play polo throughout the year. Therefore Sotogrande is also known under the nickname “The Empire of Polo and Sun”. It is the excellent weather condition that allows the Club to open all year. Temperatures are usually between 18º C in winter and 34º C in summer.
There are not only one but five polo fields at the club which have been rated as some of the best worldwide. During the month of August the club is host to the “El Torneo Internacional” – its most important competition. There are 18 teams taking part in the contest which are playing over 110 matches – something that should definitely not be missed!
Sotogrande Yacht Harbour Without doubt one of the most important facilities of Sotogrande is its port. It is set within an exclusive area and provides top notch installations, services and facilities which make it to a popular place to stop for many sailors. The yacht harbour is easy to access as the width of its entry is around 80 metres. It can be found at latitude 36º17'24" North and longitude 5º16'10" West. It is providing a total of 545 moorings and caters for yachts up to 100 metres. Around 136 of the available moorings are available for rent and invite sailors to stop by.
Once you have your yacht at the harbour you will be able to take advantage of the facilities which includes ice machines, laundry, TV connection, dry docks, work shops, gasoline pumps, ship’s tackle, electricity, water, showers, toilets, divers, workshops and much more. Ship equipment is also on offer. Fans of horseback riding and polo will simply admire the Riding Centre and the four polo fields which are active throughout the year. Whether you are an experienced rider or a beginner, the centre will have the perfect facilities and horses for you. Within Sotogrande you will find everything you could possibly wish for: shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, an international school, sports facilities, a chapel, etc. Soon there will also be a marina which will be located beside the yacht harbour.
